HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 cc886-7
1. Mr. LYNCH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether means exist whereby ex-King Constantine may hold correspondence with his relatives in this country; and whether facilities are given by the Government for these communications?

The MINISTER of BLOCKADE (Lord Robert Cecil)

King Constantine's correspondence is subject to the ordinary disabilities affecting correspondence from neutral countries, and no special facilities are given in his favour.

Mr. PEMBERTON BILLING

Does this apply to packages sent from this country to ex-King Constantine?

Lord R. CECIL

It depends on the nature of the package.

Mr. LYNCH

Is the Noble Lord aware of the fact that a parcel of khaki uniforms was recently sent from this country to ex-King Constantine?

Lord R. CECIL

I am not aware of that.

Mr. BILLING

Is it a question of principle to allow packages to go from this country to ex-King Constantine, who is admittedly an enemy of this country and a spy?

Lord R. CECIL

I do not think that it is a question of principle. I do not quite understand the hon. Member's question.

Mr. BILLING

Is ex-King Constantine regarded as an enemy or a friend to this country?

Lord R. CECIL

I should like notice of that question.
