Resolution reported,

1. "That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £4,000, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, for Expenditure in respect of Art and Science Buildings, Great Britain."

Resolution reported,

2. "That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £3,400, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, for Expenditure in respect of Diplomatic and Consular Buildings, and for the maintenance of certain Cemeteries Abroad."

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That this House doth agree with the Committee in the said Resolution."

I think we ought to have more information than we are able to get in Committee upon this strange expenditure in China. It appears that a large amount of money is being spent in China in erecting buildings in order that Chinese labour may be recruited, and payments may be made to women and children out there.

4 "That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £74,500, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, for Expenditure in respect of sun dry Public Buildings in Great Britain, not provided for on other Votes."

5 "That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £800, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, to pay the Expenses of maintaining certain Harbours under the Board of Trade and for Grants for Harbours."

6 "That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £21,000, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will, come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, for Rates and Contributions in lieu of Rates, etc., in respect of Government Property, and for Rates on Houses occupied by Representatives of Foreign Powers, and for the Salaries and Ex- penses of the Rating of Government Property Department, and for a Contribution towards the Expenses of the London Fire Brigade."
