HC Deb 20 February 1918 vol 103 c711
6. Mr. ALDEN

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Consulates of two neutral Powers at Athens have been facilitating correspondence between ex-King Constantine and his partisans in Greece; whether this correspondence is recent; and whether he proposes to make representations to the Greek Government with a view to withdrawing the sum of money that has been regularly paid to ex-King Constantine up to the present?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Balfour)

The answer to the first part of the question is, so far as I am aware, in the negative. As regards the last part, I understand that no payments are being, or have been, made to the ex-King Constantine by the Greek Government.

Mr. LYNCH

Is it not the case that ex-King Constantine publishes a paper in Switzerland in which he is always styled the King of Greece, and that in that paper he abuses the right hon. Gentleman, and, incidentally, myself?

Mr. SPEAKER

That does not arise out of this question.
