HC Deb 20 February 1918 vol 103 c745
93. Major DAVIES

asked the Home Secretary whether he has received a petition signed by 140 workers on the Midland Railway protesting against the ejectment of a Mrs. Edward Hopson, wife of a quartermaster in the Devons; whether he is aware that the husband, a soldier of seventeen years' service, is now lying seriously wounded, while the wife and two children have no other house to go to owing to the great scarcity of houses in Lancaster; and will he take steps to prevent this ejectment?

Sir G. CAVE

No such petition appears to have reached the Home Office; but in any case I have no power to interfere with the Order of a Court of Law in a civil matter.
