HC Deb 19 February 1918 vol 103 c609
49. Mr. LYNCH

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the necessity of respecting democratic ideals during the War, he will consult the authorities of the Dominions separately as to their acceptance of the word "Empire" as defining the nature of the political associations of all the British condominiums; and whether, if the advice of any one of the Dominions be adverse to the use of this word, he will discourage the use of the word Empire in this respect in all State documents?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer is in the negative.
