HC Deb 14 February 1918 vol 103 c265
49. Mr. BILLING

asked the Prime Minister whether, having regard to the fact that King Constantine of Greece has received over £100,000 from German secret funds, any purchase he makes in this country, or the exporting to him of any goods of wearing apparel or otherwise, will be considered trading with the enemy?

Lord R. CECIL

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. The question of whether such proceedings would constitute trading with the enemy is a legal question on which I am not competent to pronounce, but any applications for such export are being discouraged.

Mr. BILLING

Will the right hon. Gentleman say through whom the special messenger received the permit to take two trunks of clothes from a Sackville Street tailor to King Constantine at Berne within the last three weeks?
