HC Deb 13 February 1918 vol 103 cc95-6
Captain CARR-GOMM (by Private Notice)

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he will give immediate instructions to the local Food Committees to issue tickets to non-commissioned officers and men of the Royal Defence Corps giving them priority in the purchase of food, in view of the fact that these non-commissioned officers and men have to parade for guard duty for alternate periods of twenty-four hours, and are ordered to provide themselves with rations for that time, and in view of the fact that under the present arrangements these men have to spend a considerable portion of their time when off duty in standing in queues in order to obtain rations for the next tour of duty.

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of FOOD (Mr. Clynes)

The Food Controller is in consultation with the Army Council as to the best method which can be adopted for securing adequate supplies of food, not only for the Royal Defence Corps, but for all soldiers not actually in receipt of Army rations, and the Food Ministry will do everything possible to hasten the beat arrangements.
