Sir HENRY DALZIELasked the Prime Minister what is the amount of money in hand as the result of excess 1555 charges made to soldiers by the Expeditionary Force canteens; how is it invested; and how soon will the undertaking be carried out that the money so collected shall be devoted to purposes in aid of wounded and disabled soldiers?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONI have no evidence that excess charges have or are being made. Any profits which have been made are invested in the canteen business, and any surplus, when available for distribution, will be devoted by the Army Council for the benefit of the soldier and his dependants, and not necessarily in aid of wounded and disabled soldiers.
