HC Deb 07 August 1918 vol 109 c1331
12. Sir B. FALLE

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty if he can give any information as regards the pay, bonus, or otherwise of the engineer officer who, having attained the age for compulsory retirement, is kept on in the Service; if any improvement in his pay is proposed; and, if not, can he give the reason?

Dr. MACNAMARA

An engineer officer in such circumstances continues under present Regulations to draw the full pay of his rank without bonus, and to count any additional time so served towards increase of retired pay within the maximum laid down. While no increase in the rates of full pay of these officers is contemplated, consideration is being given to the possibility of treating them as retired officers, and granting the usual bonus in addition to full pay. In that case, of course, the additional time served would not count for increase of retired pay.
