HC Deb 29 April 1918 vol 105 cc1275-6
19. Mr. EUGENE WASON

asked the Minister of National Service whether he is aware that the local doctor at Dailly, Ayrshire, has been called up for service with the Colours on the 1st June; that there are collieries in the immediate district where accidents are frequent and medical aid is urgently required, and that only last week there were three accidents of a severe nature at the pits; and whether, under these circumstances, there being no doctor available except at Girvan on the one side of Dailly and Maybole on the other, both some six miles apart, he can see his way to cancel the calling-up of the local doctor?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of NATIONAL SERVICE (Mr. Beck)

Inquiries are being made, and I will inform my right hon. Friend of the result.

Mr. WASON

Will the hon. Gentleman make inquiries as to this parish, which is one of the largest in the county, and where there are large numbers of colliers?

Mr. BECK

We shall be very glad to take all the facts into consideration, and we shall be very grateful to the right hon. Gentleman for, any information he can supply.
