HC Deb 25 April 1918 vol 105 cc1099-100
8. Major HUNT

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the terms, conditions, and financial arrangement under which men from the respective Dominions can be settled on the lands in the Dominions are in every way, and especially financially, equally applicable to all British ex-Service men?

The UNDER-SECRETARY Of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Hewins)

The terms and conditions offered for the settlement of ex-Service men in the various self-governing Dominions differ, to some extent, as will be seen on reference to the Report of the Empire Settlement Committee. Generally speaking, the offers made are not confined to the ex-Service men of the particular Dominion concerned, but extend to those from the United Kingdom and other parts of the Empire.

Major HUNT

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether the Government have decided to provide the ex-Service men in this country with the capital necessary for the Dominions?

Mr. HEWINS

I must ask the hon. Member to wait for a later stage.
