HC Deb 24 April 1918 vol 105 cc977-8
16. Mr. WATT

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether the Regulations of his Department give the right to any soldier, feeling himself aggrieved, to see his commanding officer; if not, will he say on what occasions, if any, a soldier has this right?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The soldier, as was stated in this House the other day, has his "Charter" in Section 43 of the Army Act, which sets out his right, if he feels himself wronged, to make a complaint to his commanding officer. It is, moreover, the custom of the Service for the commanding officer to see daily at the orderly room any men who wish to prefer complaints.
