HC Deb 23 April 1918 vol 105 c853
52. Sir F. HALL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the French Government has adopted the policy of carrying hostages on hospital ships with exceedingly satisfactory results; and will he state why, considering a practice which our Ally has found to be both desirable and practicable, the British Government still refuse to carry German officers for protective measures on our hospital ships?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I would refer my hon. Friend to my answer of the 19th March, from which he will see that he is mistaken in thinking that the course he recommends is adopted by the French Government.
