§ 54. Mr. ADAMSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware of a general desire that, in view of the state of business, in this House, both Education Bills should be committed to Standing Committees; and whether he will favourably consider the adoption of this course?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWI can add nothing to the answer which I gave to a question by the hon. Member for Somerset North, on the 15th April last.
§ Mr. GULLANDWhen is the Scottish Education Bill likely to be introduced?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWMy right hon. Friend is ill, and I cannot name a date at the present time.
§ Mr. DENMANIs it not a fact that the Scottish Education Bill goes automatically to a Standing Committee, and is there any reason why English and Welsh Members, should be in a worse position in this respect than Scottish Members?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWEvery Bill goes automatically to a Standing Committee unless the House otherwise decides. It is entirely a question of the best method of getting the Bill through. I have already said that, if it seems later that that is the best method, that will be done.
