HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 cc40-1
77 and 78. Mr. BILLING

asked the Minister of Information (1) the name and qualifications of the Director of Theatrical Propaganda in Neutral Countries; and whether this gentleman has received the Ministry's sanction to appeal to the British public for donations in this connection; and (2) whether they have paid any subsidy, or whether they have promised to pay any subsidy, to the Director of Theatrical Propaganda in Neutral Countries in connection with the proposed dispatch of theatrical companies to neutral countries?

Lieutenant-Commander DUDLEY WARD (Vice-Chamberlain of the Household)

There is no such official. The second part of question No. 77 and question No. 78 do not, therefore, arise.

Mr. BILLING

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that there is a Director of Propaganda in Neutral Countries, that this Director is still on the council, that Mr. Grein has stated that he has received this appointment from Lord Beaverbrook, and is in constant communication with him, and is there any truth in that statement or not?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Gentleman has had an answer to his question.
