HC Deb 15 April 1918 vol 105 cc38-9
72. Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Pensions Minister whether, in view of the general opinion held by discharged soldiers who have lost an arm that the Carne arm is in most cases preferable to the Blatchford a[...]m, he will take steps to issue such arm in all suitable cases?

Colonel GIBBS

I have been asked to answer this question. My right hon. Friend must be mainly guided by the opinion and recommendation of expert orthopædic surgeons in determining what particular artificial limb shall be supplied. A Carne arm is supplied in all cases when specially recommended by the surgeons in charge of the case.
