HC Deb 10 April 1918 vol 104 cc1465-6
9. Mr. STANTON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if his Department will consider the granting of free railway passes to the members of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps at least once a year; is he aware that thousands of these ladies are engaged very long distances from home, and that the cost of railway travelling is almost prohibitive to them; will he therefore give some encouragement to this branch of national service by complying with the above request?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

For members of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps serving in France free conveyance from France to their homes on leave is admissible once in six months. For members of the mobile branch serving in the United Kingdom instructions have recently been issued authorising the grant of a cheap railway voucher at similar intervals.
