HC Deb 09 April 1918 vol 104 c1315
40. Sir J. JARDINE

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether he has received representations from the associations of anglers in the county of Roxburgh and other parts of the Vale of Tweed as to the need of making the salmon and trout in its waters and tributaries available as human food in the present time of restrictions for those who wish to go forth with rod and line; and whether he is taking any sort of action in this matter?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)

I have received the representations referred to, and I have been in communication with the Fishery Board and with the Scottish Freshwater Fisheries Committee regarding them. Both of these bodies are of opinion that no material addition to the food supply would result from the course of action suggested. I see no reason to differ from their conclusion.
