HC Deb 09 April 1918 vol 104 c1314
35. Mr. FREDERICK WHYTE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether he has received representations urging him to set up one of the proposed potato-flour factories in Perth; and whether, in view of the favourable position of Perth both as regards adjacent potato-growing districts and as regards railway communications, he will accede to this request?

Mr. CLYNES

Representations to this effect have been received. I cannot at present indicate with certainty the precise localities in which these factories will be established, but the intention is to instal them in districts which produce potatoes in excess of their own requirements, for the purpose of economising in transport.

Mr. WHYTE

Are these factories being established under the control of the Ministry of Food?

Mr. CLYNES

Certainly.
