HC Deb 09 April 1918 vol 104 c1323
43. Mr. FINNEY

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to resolutions passed by the quarterly meeting of representatives of the Audley Wesleyan Methodist Circuit, comprising six churches, urging the Government to increase the power of the Central Control Board, with a view to the further restriction of the liquor traffic and the sale of drink in munition, transport, and military areas throughout Great Britain, also asking the Government to take the steps necessary to prohibit entirely the traffic in drink during the remainder of the War and the period of demobilisation, and to make provision for the equitable treatment of those persons at present engaged in the traffic, and also urging the Government to take steps at once to establish a Health Ministry to safeguard infant life and the health of the people of the country; and if he will indicate the intentions of the Government respecting the same?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Bonar Law)

Resolutions passed by the various Wesleyan Methodist Circuits with regard to the matters referred to in the question have been received. I am, however, unable to add anything to statements already made.
