HC Deb 27 November 1917 vol 99 cc1828-9
50. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Prime Minister if his attention has been drawn to the protest from all parts of Ireland against the present redistribution proposals; and if he will have them withdrawn, so as to prevent any possibility of the extension of the wider franchise to Ireland being endangered?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer is again in the negative.

Mr. MOONEY

If the answer is in the negative, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman has received any representations from Ireland against these proposals?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I really do not know what representations have been received by the Prime Minister. I have not myself received any.

Mr. MOONEY

Are we to understand that public opinion in Ireland is conveyed to the right hon. Gentleman through the Department presided over by the senior Member for Dublin University?
