Mr. HINDSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether under the air-raid compensation scheme persons whose property exceeds £500 in value, and such excess is not insured under the scheme, will be compensated and, if so, to what extent; and whether compensation will be paid for the loss of money, securities, stamps, documents, manuscripts, or books of account, consequential loss, or theft?
§ Mr. WARDLEMy right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the scheme, from which he will see what are its general principles, and I will consider the special case he has in mind if he will be good enough to send me fuller particulars. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
