HC Deb 23 November 1917 vol 99 c1534
13. Mr. KING

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that Peter Petroff while interned at Islington was on good relations with the commandant, and that his reason for refusing food was the withdrawal of permission to write to or have any news of his wife; whether he is now being forcibly fed at Pentonville; and whether his health is satisfactory?

Mr. PRATT

It is not the case that Petroff was refused permission to write to, or have any news of, the woman referred to in the question as his wife. Up to the date of his removal from Islington he was writing two letters a week and receiving the same number from her. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative, and to the third in the affirmative.
