HC Deb 22 November 1917 vol 99 cc1352-3
55. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether the right hon. Member for Trinity College has undertaken the supervision of the investigation of cases in which houses and offices are raided, or literature is seized, or prosecutions are undertaken for pacifist or other anti-Government propaganda; if so, what number of persons are associated with him as staff and assistants in this work; and what is the estimated annual cost of this new Department?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. KING

Can we take it that the right hon. Member for Trinity College has nothing whatever to do with the policy for. which the Home Secretary' is responsible?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Certainly; it is hardly necessary to put the question.

Mr. HOGGE

In view of the great experience which the right hon. Gentleman has of rebellion would it not be wise to put him on this Committee?
