HC Deb 22 November 1917 vol 99 c1335
4. Mr. KING

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether any prisoners in Mountjoy Prison are still being forcibly fed; if so, how many; and whether any mitigation of their treatment is proposed?

Mr. DUKE

No prisoners in Mountjoy Prison are at present being forcibly fed.

Mr. KING

Would that have been a correct answer at the time this question was put down a week ago?

Mr. DUKE

If the hon. Member will put that down, I will ascertain.

Mr. KING

Why cannot a straight answer be given to a straight question?

Major NEWMAN

How many prisoners have been released from Mountjoy in the last fortnight?

Mr. DUKE

If my hon. and gallant Friend will put that down, I will answer it.
