Mr. STANTONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Merthyr Tydfil Assessment Committee have recently greatly increased the farm assessments in their union, in some cases 50 percent, above the rent charged by the land lords; and whether, in view of the regulation that landlords cannot increase their rents, the same regulation will also be made applicable to the rating authorities, whose action is likely later on to encourage an increase of rents?
