§ 82. Mr. STEWARTasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that the prohibition of the import of salmon canned in British Columbia 1911 inflicts hardship upon a district which, by its recruiting figures, has proved itself one of the most patriotic provinces in the Dominion of Canada, and also in view of the fact that British Columbia salmon is faced with a high duty against its import into the United States of America, he can see his way to remove the prohibition against importing such salmon into this country in whole or in part?
Mr. ROBERTSThis matter is at present under consideration, and it is hoped that it will be possible to arrive at some arrangement under which any prejudice to the industry will be reduced to a minimum consistent with attaining the object of the Proclamation.
