HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 91 cc1730-1
47. Mr. RAFFAN

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the feeling among many trade unionists in the country as to the unequal way in which the trade-card system is working; and whether early steps will be taken to substitute some other scheme which will be equally just to all classes of munition workers?

71. Mr. WING

asked the right hon. Member for Barnard Castle, as representing the Ministry of National Service, whether it is proposed to abolish the trade-card register, which operates unequally between different sections of trade unionists, and to substitute some other system likely to give more general satisfaction; and, if so, when the decision of the Government on the subject is likely to be announced?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY CO the MINISTRY of MUNITIONS (Mr. Kellaway)

I have been asked by my right hon. Friend to reply to these questions. My right hon. Friend stated the position yesterday in reply to a question by the hon. Member for West Ham. There is nothing that can at present be added to that answer, to which I must refer my hon. Friends.
