HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 91 cc1726-7
30. Colonel M'CALMONT

asked whether the name of a regimental officer in the British Expeditionary Force is not allowed to be submitted for more than one foreign decoration; and whether this order is equally applicable to staff officers?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Unless nominated by the Sovereign or head of an Allied State or his representative, no officer below the rank of major-general is permitted to receive more than one foreign decoration. The order applies equally to staff and regimental officers, and is designed to spread the decorations as widely as possible.
