HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 92 cc30-1
75. Mr. DILLON

asked the Chief Secretary whether he can now give the names of the officials appointed to carry out the National Service Act in Ireland and explain the methods which it is proposed to adopt?

Mr. DUKE

The Director of National Service for Ireland is Mr. Patrick J. O'Neill, Chairman of the Dublin County Council, and Mr. S. W. Strange, formerly in the office of the Board of Works, has been appointed secretary. It is hoped to carry out the work with the assistance of local committees and a small staff of organisers of labour, and Mr. O'Neill hopes also to have the assistance of a central advisory committee.
