HC Deb 19 March 1917 vol 91 cc1531-2
32. Mr. MILLAR

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food what steps it is proposed to take to exclude the operation of the provisions of the Wild Birds' Protection Act relating to the taking of wild birds' eggs, so as to permit of the collection and sale of the eggs of seagulls and other sea birds during the present season; whether any Order has yet been issued on the subject; and to what birds the Order will apply?

Captain BATHURST

As I stated, in reply to the hon. Member for Torquay on the 14th March, I am in communication with the Home Secretary on this subject, and I hope shortly to be able to make an announcement thereon.

Mr. MILLAR

Is the hon. Gentleman aware of the immediate urgency of having an Order made, in order that steps may be taken at once during the nesting season?

Captain BATHURST

Yes. The urgency is fully recognised, and the Home Secretary informs me that he is about to take action in the matter.
