HC Deb 19 March 1917 vol 91 cc1540-1
47. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Prime Minister whether he has received a request from the Ruhleben Prisoners' Relief Committee to receive a deputation in regard to an exchange of all prisoners; if so, whether he can find time to see such deputation; and, if not, whether he will arrange for an immediate consideration of the subject in this House?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The Prime Minister has considered the subject in consultation with General Neville and the French Ministers, and he has come to the conclusion that no useful purpose would be served by receiving the proposed deputation.

Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this matter is going to be discussed in another place tomorrow, and will he make arrangements for it to be discussed in the people's House as well?

Mr. BONAR LAW

There can, of course, be no objection to discussing anything if the House wishes it, but obviously it is a question which concerns military necessities as well as civilian necessities.
