HC Deb 19 March 1917 vol 91 c1532
53. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Prime-Minister, in view of the danger of famine, the passing of the season for breaking up pasture for tillage, and the possibility of an abundant supply of food from Ireland on terms of ownership for the cultivators, whether, if existing powers are inadequate for this latter purpose, he will introduce a short Bill to pass through all its stages this week enabling the immediate distribution of the evicted grass lands of Ireland among small farmers and labourers at prices to be settled on official inspection for the production of food?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Duke)

The Prime Minister has asked me to reply to this question. The answer is in the negative.
