HC Deb 15 March 1917 vol 91 cc1278-9
83. Mr. FITZPATRICK

asked the Minister of Munitions if he will consider the possibility of establishing a munition factory at Mountmellick, Queen's County, where there are many disused stores and factories of a suitable kind which could be acquired by the Government much more cheaply than buildings of a similar class in larger towns in Ireland; and if he is aware that Mountmellick is within 50 miles of Dublin, with which it is connected by both rail and canal?

Sir W. EVANS

The possibility of making use of the buildings referred to shall be considered, but I am afraid I cannot hold out any hope of the establishment of a factory at Mountmellick.

Mr. FITZPATRICK

Will the hon. Member make inquiry?

Sir W. EVANS

I have said that inquiry will be made.
