HC Deb 07 March 1917 vol 91 c400
94. Mr. KING

asked the Secretary to the Local Government Board whether he has any information showing a decrease or increase of venereal diseases in this country during the last two and a half years; and whether it is intended to introduce legislation on this subject at an early date?

Mr. HAYES FISHER

The Royal Commission stated in paragraph 68 of their Final Report that, except in the case of the Navy and Army, there are at present no means of arriving at an accurate estimate of the prevalence of venereal diseases. The Local Government Board have no definite information which will enable them to go beyond this statement. My Noble Friend introduced a Bill on the subject in another place yesterday.
