HC Deb 07 March 1917 vol 91 c369
116. Sir H. DALZIEL

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether, in the opinion of his Department, the time has now arrived for the institution of a compulsory meatless day once a week?

Captain BATHURST

The returns already available indicate a substantial diminution of meat consumption, and, consequently, it is not intended at present to adopt the course suggested.
