HC Deb 07 March 1917 vol 91 cc387-8
77. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Home Secretary whether he has informed the American Embassy of the fact that William Pedlar, an American citizen, has been, without charge or trial, deported from Ireland and is now interned at Oxford, his only known offence being his opinion that Ireland is entitled to representation as a distinct nation at the forthcoming International Peace Conference; and whether the American Government requires a charge to be formulated and tried in a civil Court in this case?

Sir G. CAVE

This man was removed from Ireland by military order, but is not interned. Any question about the case should be addressed to the Under-Secretary of State for War.
