HC Deb 06 March 1917 vol 91 c193
14. Mr. P. MEEHAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that dissatisfaction exists in Ireland at the delay in dealing with applications to discharge men from the Army for agricultural work and at the refusal of the authorities to discharge, either permanently or temporarily, men essential for tillage work this spring; and if he will state what steps are being taken to deal with such applications and to secure the discharge of men whose labour is necessary in Ireland for the increased tillage under the food production scheme?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement made recently by my Noble Friend in another place on the subject of assistance to agriculture and to the remarks which I made in the Debate yesterday and on Thursday last.
