HC Deb 06 March 1917 vol 91 c195
28. Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he will say how many acres of land in Scotland have been taken from sheep grazing and converted to deer forests during the past twenty-five years; what proportion of these deer forests it is now practicable to reconvert into sheep-grazings; and whether he proposes to take any action?

Mr. MUNRO

In answer to the first part of the question I would refer my hon. Friend to the various reports and returns of recent years on the subject of deer forests. As regards the last two parts of the question I am unable to give precise figures, but I may assure my hon. Friend that the Board of Agriculture for Scotland is taking steps for securing additional grazings on deer forest areas.
