HC Deb 05 March 1917 vol 91 c34
64. Mr. GOLDSTONE

asked the Post master-General whether he is aware that several boy messengers at Hull are being employed as sorting clerks and telegraphists; whether these boys will come under the recent concession to learners; and, if not, whether he will consider the hardship of employing these boys as sorting clerks and telegraphists when there is no intention to offer them appointments as such?

Mr. PIKE PEASE

There are three boy messengers employed on the duties of sorting clerks and telegraphists at Hull. They are paid as sorting clerks and telegraphists in the same way as learners employed on full duties.
