HC Deb 28 June 1917 vol 95 c528
88. Mr. P. A. HARRIS

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state the reference to the Board of Trade Departmental Committee on electricity; and whether it is a limited reference or whether the Committee has power to recommend the kind of authority or authorities which shall be entrusted with the production and distribution of electricity in the United Kingdom?

Mr. ROBERTS

The reference to the Committee is as follows: "To consider and report what steps should be taken, whether by legislation or otherwise, to ensure that there shall be an adequate and economical supply of electric power for all classes of consumers in the United Kingdom, particularly industries which depend upon a cheap supply of power for their development."
