HC Deb 28 June 1917 vol 95 c495
14. Mr. FIELD

asked the Chief Secretary whether he is aware that at the annual meeting of the Vacant Land Cultivation Society and at a meeting in St. Patrick's Division resolutions were passed requesting the immediate extension of the Allotments Act to Ireland; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?

Mr. DUKE

I am aware that such resolutions were passed, but I cannot add anything to the answers I gave to the hon. Member's questions on the 13th and 18th June.

Mr. FIELD

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of extending the Allotments Act to Ireland?

Mr. DUKE

There is an Allotments Act in Ireland, but this question of town allotments is safeguarded by very stringent powers which have been effectively and usefully exercised.
