§ 88. Mr. KINGasked whether, in reference to the decrease of £5,000 in the Estimates for contributions to inebriate reformatories, drunkenness has been so greatly diminished that the reduction in this Vote may be regarded as continuing.
§ Sir G. CAVEI believe that to some extent the reduction of the Vote is due to a diminution in drunkenness, but there are other causes, particularly the decision of the London County Council not to continue its arrangements for the reception of London cases. I do not think the amount is likely to increase substantially until there is an opportunity for the proposed legislation to amend the Inebriates Acts.
