HC Deb 25 June 1917 vol 95 cc1-2
2. Mr. BYRNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make arrangements that would enable Irish munition workers and those engaged on work of national importance in Great Britain to travel at a special cheap rate when going home on authorised leave; and if he will allow them to travel the return journey at single fare?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Roberts)

I regret that, as indicated in the reply given on Wednesday last to my right hon. Friend the Member for the Kirkcaldy Burghs, it has not been found possible to reduce railway fares in the case of munition workers going on their annual holidays, but special facilities are granted by the Ministry of Munitions to a certain number of munition workers travelling to their homes for week-ends.
