(by Private Notice) asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he still proposes that the increased rates of the Entertainments Tax included in the Finance Bill now before the House should come into operation on the 1st of July?

After further consideration, and in consequence of many representations received by me, I propose to ask the House to postpone the date until the 1st of October.

Is he aware that this tax on the cheaper form of seats will be absolutely intolerable?
