HC Deb 21 June 1917 vol 94 c1974
25. Mr. CURRIE

asked the Secretary for Scotland what steps have been taken by the Government regarding directorships held by public officials in Scotland; and whether, without countenancing reflections on individuals, he can say that the Government is satisfied with the position now existing and considers further action unnecessary?

Mr. MUNRO

I assume my hon. Friend's question refers to members of the Civil Service in Scotland. These officers are under the ordinary regulations governing the holding of directorships by the Civil Service, to which recent attention has been drawn, and I am not aware of any circumstances calling for action on my-part

Mr. CURRIE

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he does not realise the responsibility upon the Government as a whole to say something as to the holding of directorships by judges of the Court of Session?

Mr. MUNRO

That is another question.

Mr. SPEAKER

I doubt very much whether the Secretary for Scotland has any jurisdiction over the judges in Scotland.
