HC Deb 19 June 1917 vol 94 c1613
59. Mr. DICKINSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Estimates of expenditure for the present year will be exceeded by the payment of the increased war bonus recommended by the Conciliation and Arbitration Board for Government employés and, if so, to what extent; whether His Majesty's Government intends to submit revised Estimates to this House for making good such excess; and, if not, under what authority is the Treasury entitled to provide the money required for this purpose?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Any excess on the Estimates occasioned by the payment of the increased war bonus awarded by the Conciliation and Arbitration Board will be made good by an issue from the Vote of Credit, the terms of which cover expenditure for such a purpose.
