HC Deb 18 June 1917 vol 94 cc1432-3
Mr. McKENNA

(by Private Notice) asked whether it is proposed that Sir Hardman Lever should continue to remain in America; and, if so, what arrangements have been made for the performance of his duties at the Treasury?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Sir Hardman Lever has, at my urgent request, agreed to remain in the meantime in America, where, in the opinion of the Government, his services have been and will continue to be of the greatest possible value. In the circumstances, the Prime Minister has invited my hon. Friend the Member for Bewdley to become Joint Financial Secretary to the Treasury, and he has accepted the position.
