§ 24. Mr. HANCOCKasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the chairman, directors and 63 per cent, of the shareholders in the firm of M. Goerz and Company, Pinners Hall, Austin Friars, City, are Germans; and whether any attempt has been made to deal with these alien traders?
Mr. ROBERTSMy right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The company referred to by my hon. Friend is no doubt A. Goerz and Company, Limited, which is registered in South Africa. Before the War five of the eight directors were enemy subjects, but the present chairman of the company is a British-born subject, one of the other directors is a French citizen, and the remaining two directors are naturalised British subjects of enemy origin. I will have further enquiries made as to the shareholding in the company.
