§ 25. Mr. KEATINGasked the Vice-president of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether he will consider the advisability of giving financial assistance to Irish farmers to enable them to provide proper storage for the corn which will be available after the harvest?
§ Sir T. W. RUSSELL (Vice-president of the Department of Agriculture, Ireland)The Department of Agriculture are not prepared to recommend the granting of financial assistance from State funds to farmers generally for the purpose mentioned. The Department are of opinion that farmers should make arrangements to have their corn stacked and thatched properly, and have so advised. The existing facilities as to storage in Ireland will, the Department believe, be adequate to deal with the forthcoming harvest.
